Every Mouse Has Houses - Day 37

I'm trying to maintain composure. Three days to Seattle. Three days to new haircut. Three days til I get to spend an entire weekend hanging out with my son, and daughter-in-law. I have no clue what to pack. I have not started. I probably won't start til Thursday. Oy. I also discovered that my hotel check-in is later than I anticipated, and therefore, I need to see if they will allow me early check-in (I keep trying to type chicken ...?) or at least hold my bags. Otherwise, should be a fairly stress-free event, this solo traveling.

In other news, I heard the cat bang around very loudly in the laundry room this morning, before he rapidly charged into my office with something in his mouth. Then, I saw the tail.

 EWWWWWWW!

Fortunately, my beloved caught the little being and set it free out of doors (after it escaped the mouth of Bean ...)

All in all, not too traumatic, considering we have lived here for 17+ years, and this is only the second mouse we've ever seen moving. We have caught a few here and there in some traps, but nothing concerning. I just have to figure out from whence they are getting in.

I have lost all motivation to do things today. I don't know why. Probably just a self-protection mechanism - trying not to think about the upcoming trip, so I don't freak myself out. Procrastination - my strongest suit.

As for foods - I think I've got to put my big-girl pantaloons on and stop with the Factor meals, at least for a while. This doth mean, however, that I have got to do some meal prep, and planning, so that I don't put myself in a position to be lazy and slide off the wagon. Nope. I've got a few things I can make that are fine for lunches, and the beloved will need to help me with figuring out dinnerables. I don't mind cooking at all. I just have a hard time deciding WHAT to cook as I am usually not hungry by the time he gets home.

What does one eat on keto when they don't have prepared meals?

  • Bacon
  • Eggs
  • Cheese
  • Veggebles (the non-starchy kinds)
  • Salad (also a veggeble)
  • Meats
  • Butter
What do I meal-prep on keto?
  • Salad (I make a gigantic salad spinner full - romaine, spring, red cabbage, shredded carrots) so it's ready to go
  • Dump ranch - when I make it again, I'll share my version of the recipe I used originally)
  • Sausage/egg casserole  (fancy name would be frittata, I think? I am not fancy)
  • Pulled pork (slow-cooker, all good)
  • Keto bagels
That's a short list. I know chaffles will be on the menu, but you really can't prep those ahead of time, that I know of yet. It's not as difficult as I make it sound. It's basically meat, veggeble, fat, repeat.

There's other stuff going on in my world, but it's nothing I'll share here - so if you think this is all so very superficial/shallow, it really is - but it also keeps me focused. I'm not a journal-writing journaler. I like the blog because I can type fast, and add pictures, or other whatnots when I feel like it.

One bit of good news - that market is trending south in Phoenix. The prices are dropping. We found a place that is absolutely perfect, and pretty much what we wanted. If it's still there when we are ready, it will be ours. If not, we will find the next perfect thing. Life is good.

Thanks, as always, for stopping by.

Their version of reality

What I actually got

I don't know what was underneath their chicken, but it certainly was NOT under mine. It was a very soupy sauce. They also have a different definition of "roasted" than I do, when it comes to broccoli

- Some pork rinds and chip dip
- A few Spicy Dill Pickle almonds
- A raspberry-chocolate mousse (in honor of the MOUSE our cat caught this morning! O.O)
- Some more almonds because I'm in that kind of mood
- Barbecued shredded pork (from a BBQ place) - no sauce, with some Cajun butter, and a few grotesque canned green beans.
- A few of those Wisp things. They are not for me.
- Some Spicy Dill Pickle almonds
- A cup of Caramel Apple herbal tea
