Cutting a Rug, Puppy Love, Public Banking, Undying Love for Aging Mob Actors and Fine Meals

And so, it begins ... and is probably 50% completed ...

Bean, doing a quality inspection on the first section

When working by oneself, one must be creative in the art of moving objects and have zero actual plan

Are there gaping holes where the installer (me) did not pay close enough attention to line the tiles up perfectly? OF COURSE there are. Does the installer care? NO. We have a Sharpie. It'll all work out. What's left is the whole area where you see the corner of the rug in the bottom of the second picture, and another smaller area off camera, and then trimming around the perimeter. I'm going to guess that by the time I am finished, I will have four of the eight remaining boxes left for backstock/repair and replace pieces-parts.

After this is complete, I'll put up my new floor lamp, insert new desk speakers, and set up the gymnauseum in a manner most convenient for the room layout. It may be time to part with the lil end table, and the matching coffee table. All they do is hold stuff that I'm too lazy to put anywhere else. Then, I'll move the art desk (behind the boxes) over to the wall by the door, where it will hold the television. Then, I'll move the storage chest (unseen) where the coffee table was and it will be a much LESS cluttered space. I'll take a full panoramic (maybe) shot of the room, once it's all set up and ready for complete use.

Other projects include resurfacing the French doors. They came in primered, but never thought to have them painted, and now they just look like they're old and worn. I'm gonna Pinterest the hell outta them, and hopefully make them at least bearable to look at until the day when we get new French doors. THEN, see the collection of mismatched cupboard doors there in the back of bottom picture? Yeah. A combo of lovely hardwood and plywood that will at least be painted to match in one tone. That or maybe I will make a large and entertaining collage. Nothing pricey or permanent because hopefully in the next year, that whole wall will become nothing BUT wall. However, that won't happen until the kitchen is redone because wiring and such. It's a whole plan.

Meanwhile, the beloved really really wants a puppy. Also meanwhile, I am on the fence. While I am a hermit by choice, I still like knowing that I have the option to go somewhere and do something when I want to without having to worry about the care of not one, but what would then become two dogs - one senior, one not senior. I just have to stop looking, stop trying to figure it out, and let que sera sera take full effect.

If I had a say, it would be this one:

In OTHER news, I have learned more about public banking movements in the past few days than I ever probably really needed to learn, and as soon as I am done with the last transcript on this particular subject matter, I probably will forget more than I briefly knew. That's all I got to say about that.

We have turned The Irishman into a mini series, meaning I am, in no world, ever going to sit and watch one 3.5-hour film in one sitting. Nope. I do have to say that while I don't understand the technology behind the film, it is nice to feed my delusions that Pacino, DeNiro, Pesci, etc. are not in the waning hours of their lives/careers. To see them all younger again like I remember growing up with means I am not getting old either. Cool.

FINALLY (I think), I haven't taken any measurements, but I'm down at least three pounds (213.6 to be exact) as of this morning. Very few carbs, no snacking (except for Saturday evening), and feeling pretty good. I'm already in full-on peetosis, regardless of the fact that the inhaler seems to bump up the blood sugars significantly. That, or my cheapo meter is going bad.

I know it's only been a few days, but pretty proud of the fact that I have not had sugar, bread, potatoes or other flour/starch-based items. I would say I am less of a carb addict than I am an emotional/boredom eater who is prone to giving up when she feels she lacks control of her environs. And let me tell you, if I could eat the salmon dinner that I got in Angola every day, I would be happy woman child. I warmed it all up in the skillet yesterday for lunch, and it was still phenomenal. LORD! I'm fairly certain I can reach about 90% accuracy if I copycat it, so that's definitely on the horizon.

Other than that, I think I'm out of things to discuss at the moment. It's Monday. Time to get my shit together and get some work accomplished. Hope you all have a lovely week!
