Opinions, Exits, Hills, and Demises

Before you consider twisting my words, remember, I have no designated party affiliation, and I wholeheartedly do not believe in politics.

That being said, I don't believe ANYONE should be unalived for their opinions. We all have them, and with the advent of this here land of the Internets, a lot of us choose to opine A LOT.

That "freedom of speech" thing is fast fading. Instead of celebrating the death of someone with obviously very strong opinions on one side, maybe realize that you (the collective) could also be removed from breathing if you voiced something that someone else did not agree with, regardless of whether that opinion is right, wrong, or somewhere in between.

What the fuck?

I didn't even know the person, or of them, because I don't follow the news like a religion. That's a whole other story I won't go into here. I know the bare minimum. That person's existence neither negatively or positively affected my own presence on the planet.

What you allow into your brain space is what matters. If you, all day long, fill it with social media, and opinions of others, comment sections, news (fake or real, who can truly tell anymore), etc., that's a you choice.

I used to choose that. Now, I do not. Is it for the better? I have no earthly idea, but it has allowed me to focus on things that improve my life rather than diminish it.

I do not believe myself to be better or worse than anyone else. I'm just here to say that there's a sense of peace and quiet to stepping back from the noise, and I don't even have to meditate or do yoga to get it.

Every single day, all day long, people of differing viewpoints coexist without causing death. The Earth keeps orbiting, the sun also rises, as does the moon. There is ugliness everywhere you look, but there is also beauty around every corner, too. That saying goes: Change what you look at, and what you look at changes.

Here are my opinions

If you celebrate the death of another human because they didn't believe the same things you did, how are you any better?

Context (as much as I loathe that word) does matter. SO very many things get twisted, and taken OUT of context in order to fit someone's agenda. Step back and look at the bigger picture, no matter who it is.

It's all smoke and mirrors - all the news, all the algorithms, all the voices. Distraction is key. If you're looking over here at this thing going on, you're not looking over there, where other shit is being done.

I have other opinions, but that's pretty much the overarching thought process I live with.

About the only thing my mom ever said repeatedly that made sense to me was this:

"Love many, trust few, paddle your own canoe."

I don't need to weigh in (pun intended) any further on the current issue. It is what it is.

Haters gonna hate. Lovers gonna love. I'm going to move forward and continue working on me.
